Over twenty-two years, Beatrice has taught and nurtured hundreds of children.
Some of those children are now adults.
Many have completed university studies. Others are serving as professionals, teachers, healthcare workers, business people, and leaders within their communities.
Whenever she encounters former students, she is reminded that education is ultimately an investment in the future.
The seeds planted in a classroom often bear fruit years later.
One of the greatest privileges of her journey has been witnessing not only academic growth but spiritual growth as well.
As a guidance and counseling teacher for girls and an emerging preacher, she has had opportunities to minister beyond the classroom. She has watched students encounter Christ, develop character, and grow into responsible young adults who contribute positively to society.
She has also seen the painful reality that not every child embraces the opportunities placed before them. Yet even those experiences reinforce her conviction that every child deserves the chance to encounter hope, guidance, and the love of God.
A Childhood Marked by Challenge and God’s Provision
Beatrice was born and raised in Sindo Village on the nearby mainland. She was the fourth-born in a family of six children and grew up in a large polygamous household where her father, a farmer and fisherman, carried the responsibility of providing for fourteen children.
Life was often difficult.
As a partial orphan raised by her stepmother and her father, Beatrice learned early what it meant to live with uncertainty. School fees were not always guaranteed. Meeting the needs of a large family required constant sacrifice. Yet when she reflects on those years, hardship is not what she remembers most.
She remembers God’s faithfulness.
Despite the challenges, there was always enough to move forward. Somehow, provision arrived when it was needed. Looking back today, she sees those experiences as preparation for a life that would eventually be spent walking alongside children facing many of the same struggles she once knew. After completing her KCSE examinations in 1996, Beatrice pursued teacher training and later worked in three different schools. Then, in 2003, she came across an advertisement from Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre.
She applied.
She was shortlisted.
She attended the interview.
And by God’s grace, she was selected.
What seemed like a job opportunity would become a calling that has now spanned more than two decades.
Building More Than a School
When Beatrice joined GGCC, the institution was still in its infancy. She was among the pioneering staff members who helped establish the foundation of the school and participated in the very first learner placement and selection process. Those early years demanded flexibility, sacrifice, and resilience. Like many young institutions, GGCC required staff who were willing to go beyond their job descriptions. Long days were often spent preparing lessons, caring for learners, supporting school activities, and helping build systems that would enable the school to grow.
At the same time, Beatrice was raising a young family of her own. Balancing the demands of work and family life was not always easy. Yet through every season, two scriptures became the foundation upon which she built her service:
“Do everything without complaining or arguing.” — Philippians 2:14
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23
Those verses continue to guide her to this day she said.
Ask Beatrice what has kept her motivated for more than twenty-two years, and her answer comes quickly. “The children.”
Every school day begins with staff devotion before classes start. Throughout the day she teaches, mentors, encourages, and guides some of the youngest learners in the GGCC family. She especially treasures the Friday sessions when children gather to sing sacred songs and share stories. At the beginning of the school year, many learners arrive timid and uncertain. Some cry. Others are afraid to speak. A few struggle to participate in activities or even interact with their classmates.
Yet over time, something remarkable happens.
The child who once hid behind a desk begins raising a hand. The learner who struggled to pronounce letters begins reading confidently. The shy voice becomes a storyteller. Fear gives way to confidence. These moments never lose their significance. Sometimes the storytelling sessions become so engaging that children from neighboring classrooms quietly gather at the windows just to listen.
For Beatrice, these small victories represent something much bigger than academic progress. They are reminders that every child carries God-given potential waiting to be nurtured.

For more than two decades, Beatrice has had a front-row seat to the mission of GGCC.
She has seen children arrive carrying burdens that no child should have to carry.
She has seen confidence restored.
She has seen dignity restored.
She has seen lives transformed through education, mentorship, prayer, and the consistent love of a caring community.
For her, serving at GGCC is deeply connected to the call found in James 1:27—to care for orphans and vulnerable children.
As a born-again Christian, her prayer remains simple but profound:
That every child who passes through GGCC would leave not only educated, but transformed by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That they would become men and women of faith, integrity, and service. And that one day they would return to strengthen the communities from which they came.
A Message of Gratitude
As Beatrice reflects on twenty-two years of service, gratitude fills her heart. GGCC has enabled her to raise her family, grow in her faith, and dedicate her life to serving children. It has given her the opportunity to participate in something far greater than herself. Most importantly, it has allowed her to witness God’s faithfulness over and over again.
